Jeremy Alvarado

Friday, February 8, 2008:

As many of you know, we have had the very sad news to relay that Jeremy Alvarado passed away this week at the much too early age of 21 years. We are all so sad to hear of his passing - he was just a great person; intelligent, giving, fun to be around, so enthusiastic and wonderful with the kids, teens and adults. He had many, many friends at the school. He was very loved at the school and we miss him already.

Jeremy loved the martial arts, especially Gumdo. He was a 1st degree black belt in Gumdo,
a brown belt in Taekwondo, and an instructor at the school. He worked at the front desk for the last couple years until September when he joined the Navy. Jeremy recently graduated from his boot camp training in the Navy, and was awaiting his next assignment while being stationed here at the Great Lakes Naval Station. Jeremy’s dream was to serve in the Navy and earn his college degree. He hoped to open up a martial arts school one day too.

About a week ago, Jeremy became sick with flu-like symptoms. While at the doctor’s office he fainted, hit his head, and died on February 7, 2008 from brain damage from the fall. He was on life support at Condell Medical Center the last couple days of his life. His family donated his organs upon his death.

He is survived by his parents, who live in Rolling Meadows, two brothers and a sister.

Many of you have asked if there is something you can do, or a way to remember Jeremy at the school. His family relays that they do not need anything right now, but appreciate everyone’s support. We do not know right now if the family will be faced with large medical expenses. We are looking at a way to honor Jeremy at the school, and will keep you posted.
